As part of the rebirth of the Taipei 101 skyscraper, a world-renowned cultural icon, this project challenged our lighting design team to execute a design that would not only increase energy efficiency and add intelligent controls to augment the building’s spectacular holiday displays, but also renew its night presence, cementing its iconic role as Taiwan’s “beacon of dreams.” Custom fixtures with special photometrics perfectly synchronizing with the architectural geometry, bespoke programming in a theatre-inspired control system, and painstakingly calculated installation guides won over our client, impressing upon them the power of thoughtful lighting to transform the experience of an architectural landmark for citizens and visitors alike.
