Uno Lai is an influential lighting designer in Asia and the principal of UnoLai Design, which he established in New York in 2005. A practising lighting designer for nearly two decades, Uno draws inspiration from a lively creative professional background including photography, theater and interior design. Uno’s work has received media attention and lighting design awards from organizations both at home and abroad. He has long promoted an appreciation of lighting design through public lectures, articles and online seminars. In 2015, Uno opened UnoLab as an ambitious, future-driven exploration of new lighting frontiers, rethinking the role of light in our lives. His conceptual lighting art installations have featured in festivals and exhibitions around the world. Uno most recently founded UnoLife, rooted in his personal philosophy, bringing the concepts of nature and sustainability in harmony with easeful living: design for life, so that life can be more than design.
