Grand Hyatt Seoul

As the most established 5-star hotel in South Korea’s capital, the ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Seoul is a space brimming with history and collective memory. With this renovation, we sought to imbue the ballroom with fresh energy and to improve its technical capabilities. Old dimmer hardware had been in use for nearly half a century, and many similarly outdated components were replaced in a complete upgrade of the electrical and mechanical systems. This created a transformative opportunity to maximize the performance of the ballroom with lighting scenes. The ballroom’s overall atmosphere was also updated, firstly by adjusting the color temperature upward for a more modern feel. We designed and programmed a bespoke dynamic lighting program for the ceiling plane. With RGBW lighting integrated into the geometric details of the ceiling, the entire plane became a canvas for a dynamic art installation.
